Sucralose is not metabolized or absorbed by the human body, and has zero calories, making it an ideal sweetener substitute for diabetics. Approved by the FDA in 1998, it can be used as a universal sweetener in all foods and does not affect blood glucose levels, making it acceptable for diabetics. Furthermore, sucralose is not utilized by cariogenic bacteria, reducing acid production in the oral cavity and the adhesion of streptococcal cells to tooth surfaces, effectively preventing tooth decay. Animal studies have shown that sucralose is safe for long-term consumption even at doses hundreds of times higher than human levels. Long-term experiments on ordinary human volunteers have demonstrated that sucralose does not cause irreversible harm to human health. After long-term safety certification testing, the US FDA has confirmed it as a GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) additive.
